The Pr. Secretary (F, CS & CA) to the Government of Himachal Pradesh
heads the Department at the Government level.At the Directorate level,
the Director, Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs and Weights

Set-up of the Organization upto Field Level:
Directorate:
The Head of the Department is the Director, Food, Civil Supplies
& Consumer Affairs.He is assisted at the Directorate level by
one Addl./Joint/Deputy Director (Admn.) of H.A.S. cadre, one Joint
Director, Two Deputy Directors, one Deputy Controller (F&A) and
one Law Officer, besides other supporting Staff.
Zonal Office:
There is a Zonal Office at Dharamshala in Kangra District headed by
a Joint Director Food, Civil supplies & Consumer Affairs.One District
Inspector and the other supporting staff assist him.He carries out
the duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Government from
time to time, besides supervision of the working of Eight Districts
under his control.These Districts are Kangra, Hamirpur, Una, Chamba,
Una, Kullu, Bilaspur, Mandi and Lahaul & Spiti. (Except Spiti
Sub-Division).
District Level Set-Up:
There are 12 District Officers of the Department in the State.A District
Controller, Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs heads each District
Office.A District Inspector, Inspectors and other supporting Staff
assist these District Heads.
Powers and duties of its Officers and employees:
1.Joint Director Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs (Incharge
Administration Branch)
1. Establishment matters.
2. Court cases pertaining to establishment matters.
3. Annual action Plan and its follow up action.
4. Annual Administration Report.
5. All Legislative matters/business.
6. Inspections of District Offices, the Directorate and general supervision
of the Directorate.
7. Controlling Officer for Contingencies/T.A./M.R. Bills etc.
8. Construction of Office/residential building of the Department in
the state.
9. Vehicles and their maintenance.
10. Vigilance Officer of the Department.
11. Chief Fire Officer of the Department.
12.
Disposal of routine cases, meeting and general control of the Directorate
in the absence of the Director.
13. J.C.C. matters and DC/SPs meetings.
14. Departmental budget.
