The Himachal Pradesh State Information Commission was constituted by the State Government on 4th February, 2006 in exercise of powers conferred by sub section (1) of section 15 of the Right to Information Act, 2005 and appointed Shri Prem Singh Rana, IAS (Retd.) as its first State Chief Information Commissioner who assumed his office w.e.f. 1st march, 2006. The Commission started functioning w.e.f. 1st March, 2006 having its headquarters at Shimla.
 
 

It is mandatory for all Government organisations to publish RTI related information under the clause (b) of sub-section (1) of Section 4 of the RTI Act 2005, classified under 17 sub-heads. Most of the organisations in Himachal Pradesh have published this content related to their respective organisations.
